Short BIO

Michele Bettin is a researcher and lecturer at the School of Tourism and Service Management. He joined Modul University in 2023 after having completed a MSc Intercultural Development of Tourism Systems at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, including an enriching Erasmus experience at KU Leuven (Belgium) in the Department of Geography and Tourism. Complementing his academic achievements, he obtained two professional master's degrees in Corporate Sustainability Strategies and Educational Tools for Teaching Geography.

His commitment extends within academia, contributing as a research fellow for INTERREG MED Alter Eco+ and SmartCulTour (Horizon 2020) projects. His master thesis titled "Sustainable Tourism for the Renewal of Rural Areas: From the Urban-Rural Dualism to the Network Paradigm" stresses his dedication in shaping the development of sustainable tourism, as evidenced by his involvement in regional projects for sustainable tourism development - particularly in heritage tourism, river tourism and the creation of a regional tourism observatory.

Research

With a focus on community involvement in heritage management, economics dimensions of heritage and cultural inheritance-based innovations, Michele's research interests lie in the fields of cultural economics and sustainable heritage tourism development, through which he strives to offer useful insights for real-world applications in heritage management.
