TUITION FEES

MU tuition fees per semester vary depending on the program type and refer only to the cost of classroom study and MU services only, they do not include housing or other living costs. 

All application submissions are subject to €100 application fee. This fee will be deducted from the first tuition payment for all accepted candidates.

Tuition fees are adjusted bi-annually, in January and June according to the inflation index. By default, tuition fees are payable every semester according to the rates published in the  Guidelines on Fees.

Payment Schedules

We have 3 payment options for new students joining MU. Once you have been conditionally or fully accepted, and received your study contract, you will also be asked to notify us of your payment preference. A detailed payment plan will then be issued along with your first invoice.

With any of the options, the initial payment deadline is 7 days from the date your Admission Offer Letter and Study Contract is sent to you.

  1. Full Payment
    You can choose to pay your full program tuition fees in one payment and will receive a 3% discount and no tuition fee indexation. The payment deadline is 3 weeks from being issued your Admission Offer letter.
  2. Yearly  / Annual
    You can choose to pay for 2 semesters (1 academic year) and will receive a 1.5% discount and no tuition fee indexation for one year.
  3. Semester
    For new students, you will be invoiced upon confirmation of acceptance, please note the payment deadline on your invoice. For current students invoicing and payment is due before December 15th (Spring semester) or July 15th (Fall semester). By default, tuition fees are payable every semester according to the rates published in the Guidelines on Fees.

Please note deferring by a semester does not change the original payment schedule.

Scholarships and reductions on tuition fees

These deadlines are based on approximate lead times required for being granted a Visa. Applicants are welcome to apply after their deadline, however for the best chance of being issued a Visa to study in Austria, we recommend applying prior to your deadline.

Bachelor

IB Diploma Reduction

Amount: 10% reduction from the subject tuition fee instalment
Eligibility: Applicants who will or have graduated with an International Baccalaureate Diploma will receive a reduction of 10% on our Bachelor programs. This reduction can not be combined with the European High School Reduction. 

European High School Reduction 

Amount: 5% reduction from the subject tuition fee instalment
Eligibility: Applicants who will or have graduated from a high school located in Austria, the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland will receive a reduction of 5% on our Bachelor programs. This reduction can not be combined with the IB Diploma Reduction.  

Masters

MU Alumni Grant 

Amount:  depending on your grade point average (GPA) 

  • GPA>95%: 40% of tuition 
  • GPA>90%: 35% of tuition 
  • GPA>85%: 30% of tuition 
  • GPA>80%: 25% of tuition 
  • GPA>70%: 15% of tuition 
  • GPA<70%: 10% of tuition 

Eligibility: If you achieved an undergraduate degree at MU and choose to continue your studies at MU you are eligible for the Alumni Grant.

Graduate Academic Excellence Scholarship

Successful applicants can receive a tuition fee waiver of up to 100%, covering the full cost of tuition, based on their academic qualifications and achievements.

 

Exchange Alumni Grant

Amount: 8% of total tuition 
Eligibility: If you have visited MU Vienna as an Exchange Student and decide to continue or transfer your study at MU.  

MBA

MU Alumni Grant 

Amount:  depending on your grade point average (GPA) 

  • GPA>95%: 40% of tuition 
  • GPA>90%: 35% of tuition 
  • GPA>85%: 30% of tuition 
  • GPA>80%: 25% of tuition 
  • GPA>70%: 15% of tuition 
  • GPA<70%: 10% of tuition 

Eligibility: If you achieved an undergraduate degree at MU and choose to continue your studies at MU you are eligible for the Alumni Grant. 

PhD
We do not offer full scholarships for our PhD program, however we will issue between 25-75% scholarships to outstanding candidates based upon application.

Merit Grant 

Amount: 10% reduction from the subject tuition fee instalment
Eligibility: The admissions committee may grant a reduction of 10% to outstanding candidates. This grant is up to the discretion of the admissions committee and no extra application is required. 

Austrian Tourism Grant 

Amount: 25% tuition fee reduction per year
Eligibility: The grant is exclusively designed for students within the Austrian Tourism market.

MCC Scholarship 

Amount: Up to 100% of the total tuition fee 

Eligibility: Mathias Corvinus Collegium and Modul University Vienna partner up to support students on their higher education journey. More details about upcoming MCC scholarships for the next intakes will be communicated soon! 

Siblings Reduction 

Amount: 10% of the total tuition fees for following siblings 
Eligibility: If you are a sibling of a current student at MU Vienna and also want to study at MU. This reduction is not related to a specific study program.  

Full Tuition Fee Payment Reduction 

Amount: 3% of total study program tuition plus no tuition fee indexation
Eligibility: For applicants who opt to pay the full amount of tuition for the given study program in advance. 

Academic Year Tuition Payment Reduction 

Amount: 1.5% of academic year tuition plus no tuition fee indexation for one year.
Eligibility: For applicants who opt to pay the full amount of tuition for the given study program in advance.

Semesterly Tuition Payment Reduction 

By default, tuition fees are payable every semester according to the rates published in the Guidelines on Fees. 

Working in Austria during your studies

If you would like to work in Austria beside your studies, please make sure to inquire about the legal regulations before commencing employment.

Students from EU countries (except Croatia) do not require a specific work permit.

Students from Non-EU countries and Croatia are subject to the Act Governing the Employment of Foreign Nationals and require an employment permit (Beschäftigungsbewilligung). The application for the permit has to be filed with the Public Employment Service (Arbeitsmarktservice) by the employer.

Students who are in possession of a valid residence permit for study purposes and who hold an employment permit are allowed to work to a limited extent:

Bachelor/Master/PhD students can generally get a work permit for employment for 20 hours per week (as of October 1, 2017).

Working in Austria after graduation

Non-EU students who have completed a degree in Austria can apply for the "Red-White-Red" card, issued by the Austrian authorities for one year and is linked to one specific employer. For full terms and conditions of qualification, please click here.

Non-EU students have 12 months to find a job and to apply for the Red-White-Red Card (as of October 1, 2017). During that time the residency title for students must be extended. Moreover, students still may work up to 20 hours per week.
