Welcome to the Research Center for New Media Technology at Modul University Vienna
With the growing demand for data science skills in optimizing business processes, our interdisciplinary approach addresses real-world problems in various fields. As a result, MU Vienna has founded the School of Applied Data Science and launched our new BSc in Applied Data Science, capitalizing on our interdisciplinary tradition and comprehensive quantitive data-driven approach.
About the School
Led by Prof. DDr. Arno Scharl, the center is a dynamic hub of interdisciplinary research and innovation. With its focus on AI-driven knowledge extraction and visualization, media monitoring, business intelligence applications, and the utilization of new media for interactive marketing and virtual community building, NMT is at the forefront of cutting-edge research on (generative) Artificial Intelligence and semantic technologies.
As an integral part of Modul University, the center collaborates closely with Modul Technology (MT), the university's New Media Research and Innovation spin-off company. Drawing on the expertise of faculty and technology experts, NMT and MT actively engage in nationally and internationally funded projects, developing innovative data-driven solutions that bridge the gap between research and market application.
Research Focus
Among the leading European research groups in its field, the Research Center for New Media Technology conducts cross-disciplinary research on Web intelligence, knowledge management and visual analytics. Projects
Through EPOCH we will measure the effects on statistical indicators of events being reported in the news and social media. Innovatively, it will use the measured effects of now past events to predict the future changes expected due to future events detected in the public dialogue. Through the EPOCH dashboard, organizations can identify and thus better prepare for these changes, adapting their communications, marketing and resources accordingly. This will be demonstrated in the domains of purchase price forecasting and public relations. This project is carried out by Modul Technology.
