Cutting-edge hospitality education: Modul University Vienna and New York City College of Technology announce unique collaboration in Culinary Arts Studies

Date: 01/August/2023

Modul University Vienna and New York City College of Technology announce a new cooperation that adds a unique study abroad experience to the existing bachelor's degree program in Tourism, Hotel Management and Operations.

Under the cooperation, students will spend their first year of study at Modul University Vienna, where they will first gain a solid knowledge base in business administration, accounting and marketing. Afterwards, they have the opportunity to spend a year abroad at New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn as part of a guaranteed mobility program. Here they benefit in particular from the expertise of the partner university's Hospitality Management Department and deepen their knowledge in courses such as Culinary Arts, Food and Beverage Management, Facilities Design and Property Management, Hospitality Workforce Management and Perspectives in Hospitality Management.
“Modul University Vienna's Tourism, Hotel Management and Operations bachelor's program is an excellent complement to our departments, allowing students to take numerous complementary courses and gain new experiences. Through the expertise of the professors at both institutions, they gain essential skills and knowledge for a successful career in the international hospitality industry," explains Karen Goodlad, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Hospitality Management Department at New York City College of Technology.
Back in Vienna, students then have the opportunity to complete a 900-hour professional internship, for which they receive appropriate course credits equivalent to an entire semester.
"The cooperation with New York City College of Technology offers our students a particularly practical education in an international environment. This enables them to further develop their intercultural skills, build a global network and apply their freshly acquired hospitality expertise directly in practice," says Karl Wöber, rector and managing director of Modul University Vienna.
The cooperation, which adds this mobility opportunity for Modul University students to the proven eight-semester Tourism, Hotel Management and Operations program, will start in fall 2023. Applications are open now. More information about the BBA in Tourism, Hotel Management and Operations program can be found here.
